Welcome to the battle!  Living with diabetes can be difficult to contend with.  From checking your sugars, taking your insulin or pills, carb counting, doctor visits and not to mention the expense.  It can wear you down physically, mentally and spiritually.

My name is Brent Doctor and I've been living with Type 1 Diabetes for over 18 years.  I was diagnosed when I was 12 years old.  I've had physical and metaphorical highs and lows with my diabetes.  I've lost partial sight in my eyes, nerve damage and kidney failure.  There is not much I have not been through.

My mission as a diabetic counselor is to provide answers to the many questions that come with this disease.  From the current diagnosed diabetics to the newly diagnosed and their families.  Living with diabetes can be extremely overwhelming and unless you lived with diabetes, it's difficult to understand.  I understand it very thoroughly.  I work in the community with my story and education of diabetes.  I speak to individuals one-on-one to large groups.  I have teamed up the ADA (American Diabetes Association), JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), Focus On Health, local chruches and schools to help educate and counsel.

QUICK NOTES

It has been nearly 3 months since my kidney transplant from Lutheran Kidney Transplant Center and I am doing great!!  I could not have asked for a more sucessful recovery.  I would like to thank all my family and friends for all of their support and prayers during my recovery and my difficult journey over the past year with my kidney failure, diaylsis and transplant.
